Everyone should stop hating on the NSX

I recall THIS being a concept car from back in 2009, with BMW promising it would be a production car at some point.

They did the same exact thing that Acura is doing- show it off at every car show- with slight performance/appearance changes- and then [eventually] putting it into production.

Guess what? We loved it.

Who's to say we have to keep hating on the NSX because we've already seen it on several occasions?

We don't.

It's going to turn out to be a great supercar, as it always has been.

You make a valid point, but I must say this is not a 100% fair comparison. The i8 was/is a completely new product from BMW, going in a very new direction. Nothing about it was expected at the time. The NSX, on the other hand, is Honda/Acura's "halo car". Its been sorely missed since production of the last gen stopped, and everyone has been waiting for their next move. Honda messed up this launch if you ask me.

Besides the hybrid aspect, this car could have launched 8-10 years ago and been "par for the course" in terms of mid engine sports cars.

I'm gonna quote myself and say:

People seem to forget that Honda said it will unveil the production car, in 2015, at the Detroit motor show. And guess that they did.

It's so easy to distract people nowadays. And they also seem to have a short memory. And you perfectly see that when it's election time.

I think the NSX looks great. I have a bit of a soft spot for Honda/Acura as my first two cars were my dad's old '90 Legend LS Coupe that I got to drive while I was in high school and then a '92 Integra GSR that I bought myself.

Acura just got overshadowed by the Ford GT coming out of nowhere. The GT looks crazier than the NSX—and while the GT is still a concept I bet the production version will still look crazier than the NSX.

It's entirely possible though, that the NSX ends up being the better car for living with on a daily (or at least frequent) driving basis.

Probably gets better gas mileage too.

IMO the i8 still looks crazy, and the NSX just looks like an Acura redesign of a R8. Thats the difference for me.

But I also recall the Camaro getting a lot of hate for taking so damn long too. So its not just the NSX that gets hate for taking so long.

Yeah, I remember they showed it in a Mission Impossible movie too

In all honesty, I think the NSX looks better than the new GT and the i8

The i8 was revealed in 2009 and I saw my first one on the road in 2014 (5 years).

The NSX was revealed in 2007 and is still not on the roads (8 years+).

Higher then hyped recent concept was Chevy Camaro Coupe Concept debuted Jan 2006 production model went on sale April of 2009 3.5 years as a 2010 model. Chevy Camaro Convertible debuted in Jan 2007 2 years before the the coupe debuted. The convertible went on sale in February of 2011, 4 and some change years before the concept debuted. I was tired of the car before it came out. The NSX and i8 are 10x more technology than a chevy camaro. I'm tired of hearing sh*t about the NSX and i8 which have way more systems electric. turbos, etc when the camaro has a v6 and v8 with a auto and manual, and took almost 4 years to develop.
